Employment Sought

Interested in a full-time or (initially) part-time computerized bookkeeping or other information technology position in Victoria, British Columbia.

Information technology areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computer laboratory assistance, internet research, database usage, software installation, knowledge brokering, and general computer usage.

Gaining useful experience, in many areas of information technology, is more important than higher remuneration.

Employment Experience

As a poll clerk for Elections Canada, supported the Deputy Returning Officer by helping him open, run, and close a polling station during a federal election.

As the Information and Internet director of Maturity Works of Greater Victoria non-profit society, created the Maturity Works of Greater Victoria web site, www.maturityworksvictoria.50megs.com, through modification of www.50megs.com template-based member web-site pages.

Volunteered as a Computer Laboratory Assistant at Project Literacy Victoria for thirty-two months.

As a Specialist Instructor, taught and marked multiple laboratory sections of first and second year University of Victoria physics courses.

Wrote PL/I and Mark IV programmes for the Ministry of the Environment, Government of British Columbia while employed by the Resources Application Unit, Systems Development Division, British Columbia Systems Corporation.

Wrote FORTRAN programmes for the Institute of Ocean Sciences, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Government of Canada and for the Farm Economics Branch, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Government of British Columbia.

Used earnings from summer employment positions with West Kootenay Power and Light Company, Limited in South Slocan, British Columbia to pay cash for education at Selkirk College and the University of Victoria, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy.
